Hypersonic HeroClix Reviews: RonanRONAN
I don't really like to play big tent pole figures but the 300 point Ronan sure has a real 'come hither' look to him. Strong stats, massive damage, impressive attack values, long range, improved targeting, and top-dial Outwit (all of which can't be countered) looks pretty good in a large point game. He makes the 300 point Black Adam from Superman (my benchmark 300 point efficiency figure) look just so-so.

Still, I actually think he shines best at 100 points. Invincible is a scary power on most people and when you're looking at a secondary attacker (I look at almost all 100 point figures as secondary attackers), with Invincible that's good. He's got a great AV at that level and with Close Combat Expert and Super Strength can dish out much more than he should. Plus his ability to phase out of trouble at the end of his dial and free action regen potentially back to his top 100 point dial should not be sniffed at.

Ronan Heroclix Dial

HeroClix World Guardians of the Galaxy ATAAnother factor to consider is that "Guardians of the Galaxy" keyworded figures have two of the best ATAs available, making them either wildcards for 1 point per clix or making them immune to Outwit for 5 4 points per clix. These figures shine with the mini-Fortitude of their ATA.

WizKids consistently has put out very solid Fast Forces packs for the past few years with very few misfires, often with the Fast Forces figures outshining the main set ones (I'm looking at you Fast Forces Superman). Overall, this is yet another strong Fast Forces with plenty of strong, well costed, well balanced figures which you should see on plenty of teams for the next 2 months before the next set comes out.

Note: the image on the right is the original ATA provided by Wizkids, but is outdated. At some point, they reduced the cost of this ATA from 5 to 4.

Your Comments:
@Superfriend: That you for the information. I actually stopped posting "delayed product" news a long time ago because HeroClix release dates are always delayed. ALWAYS.

If I posted info on HeroClix product delays, there would literally be a new posting every week.

@LE
Not sure where to put this, but the heroclix . com page says that the comic set of Guardians of the Galaxy 5 pack boosters may be delayed / allocated for stores in the Mid West by a few days and East Coast by as much as a week.

[Some Alliance Midwest stores may experience a 2-3 day delay in receiving their Marvel HeroClix: Guardians of the Galaxy booster brick orders. Stores that have release events scheduled Wednesday - Friday (13-15 August) should consider re-scheduling to accommodate this delay.
Some Alliance East stores may find their initial Marvel HeroClix: Guardians of the Galaxy booster brick orders allocated. PLEASE NOTE: the rest of your order will be shipped to you as soon as the next wave of product arrives at Alliance East. (which we expect to arrive a 7-10 days after initial release)]

I have this set on order and am looking forward to it. The FF sets I agree have been pretty solid so far and I like getting all my character must-owns in one go with no randomness.

Nice reviews overall so my thanks to the good doctor. I missed the A- / B+ scores though that we usually get for the hypersonic reviews.

Star Lord's Hadron Enforcer lets you use Pulse Wave. One tactic I saw used was place the hadron enforcer, use running shot to get away and then do the pulse wave.

Good catch guys, especially on the free action! This is totally an editing issue on my part.

The Guardians of the Galaxa ATA on page 6 used to be 5 points -- that image you are seeing came directly from the Wizkids site. I am unsure exactly when they reduced it to 4 points, but clearly I need to update the HeroClix World files.

Thanks again!

There are a lot of errors in this review. As pseudokinetic said, you can't PW as a free action. Additionally for Star-Lord you can't push and perplex up your damage on the second turn. You don't take the push until after you already have the second token.

Rocket and Ronan ignore all characters for targeting, not just opposing.

The GotG ATA that says their powers can't be countered costs 4 points, not 5. Additionally their other wildcard ATA is practically useless since you can only use it on themed teams now. You would have a team of no team abilities and all wildcards.

I disagree with some of the strategies involved, but that's just opinion I wanted to correct some of the actual mistakes.

but the hadron enforcer doesn't give the use of the pulsewave as a free action.. just the choosing of the square. you'd have to wait to clear in order to pulse
