As you can see, the difference between the Pie Dial and the HeroClix dial is numerous -- Mage Knight was really meant to be a fantasy/rpg hybrid after all. Still, there are some really interesting things here such as a Ranged Damage separate from Close Combat damage. The Attack Bonus is interesting too, but does that apply to only Ranged attacks?

Mage Knight Pie Dial

The coolest aspect of the Pie-Dial has to be the NEXUS ability. If you look closely at that green dot, it actually has a line connecting it to the Attack Value. If we very loosely translate this to HeroClix, it could mean that this character possesses both Psychic Blast and Super Strength. If the Nexus was connected to Speed value, it would be Charge instead! This essentially would double the number of standard powers out there, and I love it so.

It's unlikely the Pie-Dial will ever make it into HeroClix, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. After all, the Pie-Dial killed Mage Knight (
for reasons I am not exactly sure of), and none of us want to see that happen to HeroClix. Regardless, HeroClix World would like to wish each and every one of you a very prosperous Pi Day!

Live Long and Be Fabulous!

Wait, can it be? Is Heroclix World coming back to life? It's a freaking MIRACLE!

I started playing Mage Knight back in 2002. I moved to other city and never found anyone to play with me. Mage Knight died (and I don't know why). Recently I've started to play Heroclix, and got excited with Mage Knight: Ressurrection, but it didin't looked like was acting good ... =/

what does this have to do with pi??

All this does is act as a reminder of how MageKnight 2.0 was the suicide of the best collectible minis game of all time.

Then again, if MageKnight 1.0 would have never flopped I wouldn't be playing Heroclix, so there's a silver lining I guess

On the dial shown the character would have +2 to range attacks and would just use the 8 attack for close combat.

Other characters would have a sword or wand. The sword symbol would be for close combact and the wand for magic attacks.

I hope that answers your questions.

Mage Knight's complexity is what attracted me to it. I had started with Heroclix and moved to Mage Knight to get a richer experience. I would hardly say the Pie-Dial is what killed Mage Knight. Remember if it wasn't for the success of Mage Knight we would never have had Heroclixs.

We actually have a family pie day every year. Potluck dinner where each couple brings a pie for desert, and we have some sort of "Pie" main course. Last year we did a build your own pizza, this year it was chicken pot pie. Next year we're thinking quiche.
