HeroClix #1Our friends at ICV2.com have released the top collectible games in the fourth quarter of 2009. This is based on SALES, and guess what? HEROCLIX is the only miniatures game to make it into the top 5.

Top 5 Collectible Games Over-all -- Q4 2009
1. Pokemon TCG
2. Magic: The Gathering
3. Yu-Gih-Oh! TCG
4. World of Warcraft TCG

5. HeroClix

That's pretty damn impressive, especially since HeroClix wasn't even available for the year leading up to Q4 2009. The TCG (Trading Card Game) boys still take the top ranks (but I find it curious that Magic The Gathering isn't #1).

Regardless, this is highly impressive for HeroClix to be on the list. It's the #1 non-TCG!

HEroClix MandarinEven more important is the list for the Hobby Games channels (that's your local gaming store rather than Wal-mart). In this list, HeroClix is #3 overall, and is still the #1 non-TCG on the list.

Top 10 Hobby Channel Collectible Games -- Q4 2009

1. Magic: The Gathering
2. Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG
3. HeroClix
4. World of Warcraft TCG
5. Legend of the Five Rings
6. Pokemon
7. D&D Miniatures
8. Star Wars CMG
9. Monsterpocalypse
10. Naruto CCG

Wow! Look at that bottom four! What happened to D&D, Star Wars, and Monsterpocalypse?

Well, Star Wars is being dropped completely by Hasbro/WOTC this fall, so that explains that.... and D&D 4th edition has been sucking for a long time... but what what happened to Monsterpocalypse?

Regardless, HeroClix World would like to congratulate NECA for reaching the #1 for a non-TCG game... on their first try (congrats to the Wizkids staff too). This is definitely a sign of great things to come!

And to think Topps cut Heroclix, because they wanted to "focus of collector cards" LOL

In my opinion, D&D really screwed themselves with their minis line. First they have a perfectly good system, but they "had" to revamp it to be in line with their unnecessary 4e. Then before people can get used to the revamped system, WOTC goes and cancels the entire skirmish game due to low numbers. It's like they don't know their own market anymore. Or probably more likely, the executives at the top have no idea who their customer base is.
And with the Star Wars line, where could it really go? I mean how many Darth Vader figures do you really need anyway?
Good job Heroclix for coming back strong.

I am also going to miss SW Minis. Biggest Mini ever is the Walker - one of my favorites (my other Fave is the Great Cthulhu but that's a different story). Very glad HC is back AND strong, but will miss SW. . .

Heroclix SHOULD be #1 period! With Naruto CCG in second. ;P

Don't jump in with the woohoos too fast guys. Personally, I think HoT did this well _because_ HC hadn't been on sale for a while. It meant people were looking forward to it, with enthusiasm.

Most TCGs/CMGs simply demand too much financial commitment for the average player; a longer break between sets gives everyone time to _look_forward_ to it, instead of thinking 'oh heck how do I pay for another expansion'. (I know that's why I stopped playing Magic; I still love it, but four sets a year, plus a bunch of highly-priced special like the planeswalker stuff? Nice, but just not worth the effort.)

Personally I'm very sorry to see SW go. HC could do to take some lessons from WotC in paint schemes - SW had durable painting without slathering all the minis in thick goop that covers all the wonderful detail work.

Scourage101 is eactly right! This is why I play Clix more and MTG much, much, much less.

Unlike the rest Heroclix is what you buy it for. Comic book battles. To this end they expand constantly where the others try to replace the previous set, for good. We have monsters, villians, heros, and giant robots. Need we say more :)

Woo-Hoo! Good job for a great game. I bought HC with IC, partially dropped out as funds were diverted to HrC and a kid, but Thor brought me back to stay. Very cool.

Congrats to heroclix as the top minitures game out there. Also a huge congrats to the players, collectors, fans of the game who kept it going in our darkest year and last, but not least a "LOUD HURRAH' to Neca for bringing our game back and giving us fantastic previews of things yet to come.
