Infinity Gauntlet
The Le (03/04/2010)

HeroClix Infinity Gauntlet ScenarioOverview: Thanos found all six Infinity Gems and set them into his Infinity Gauntlet. With power over reality itself, Thanos used the Infinity Gauntlet to kill half of all the living beings in the universe. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and so Adam Warlock has gathered the most powerful heroes to defeat the omnipotent Thanos.

Can you defeat a god?

Players: 2 (or more)
Points: 2000 points
Actions: 4 actions per turn
Cards: Each Heroes player may assign up to 20 points of feats. No BFCs or Bystander Tokens allowed

Player 1 (Thanos): This player can only use Thanos. Thanos is automatically given the 6 Infinity Gems (below). All Infinty Gem feats are immune to Thwart.

HeroClix Infinity Gems

Old Thanos Special: If player 1 uses the original Infinity Challenge version of Thanos (rather than the Supernova version), then the EGO GEM is automatically applied to him.

HeroClix Ego GemSoul Gem Clarification: If Thanos possesses a damage reducing power, and uses the Soul Gem to obtain another one, he may only apply one of those damage reducing powers per action (example: Thanos can possess Impervious and Invulnerability, but he cannot use them both at the same time; when he is dealt damage, he must choose which of the two he wants to use).

Player 2 (Heroes): This player may create a 2000 point team, from only the following list: Thor, Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Cyclops, Scarlet Witch, Namor, She-Hulk, Hulk, Wolverine, Vision, Adam Warlock, Silver Surfer, Starfox, Drax The Destroyer, Dr. Doom, Dr. Strange, Death, Mephisto, Galactus, The Living Tribunal, The Collector, Chaos & Order, Gamora, Cloak, Pip The Troll, Firelord, Nebula, Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Chronos, Quasar, Spiderman.

More players (heroes): You can have 1-3 Hero teams/players. For 2 Hero players, each Hero team must be up to 1000 points. For 3 Hero players, each hero team must be up to 700 points. Highlander rules apply. (Optional: Highlander rules apply to each individual team, allowing you to use Thor on every team).

Actions: Heroes can take 4 actions per turn. If there are 2 or more Hero teams, each Hero team can only take 3 actions per turn.

THANOS Strategy: To impress Death, you've turned off the ability to see the future (which is why you don't have Super Senses). You're going to take lots of hits, but that Reality Gem will more than make up for it, allowing you shrug off 10 attack, +1 per turn. You must take advantage of the free phasing/teleport and free incapacitate attack each turn, because you're natural damage isn't going to be enough to KO the big heroes in one hit! And rolling doubles gives some major damage, so take the offensive!

If you're using the Supernova Thanos, make your Impervious rolls before using your Reality Gem.

If you're on the offensive, use the Soul Gem to steal some Hypersonic Speed, Ranged Combat Expert, or Close Combat Expert. If you're on the defensive, see about stealing some Super Senses, Impervious, Probability Control, or Regeneration.

Thanos Pimp HandHEROES Strategy: No turtling here. You have to get through Thanos' Reality Gem, which basically gives him Protected for against 10 attacks (+1 per turn). Translation? You have to hit him twice per turn, if not more.... Thanos' Impervious isn't going to help you that's for sure. It's probably better to have 2-3 Hero teams, as it will allow you to make more attacks. Thanos is very beatable in this scenario, so just keep pressing the attack as much as possible.

Then again, historically Thanos did beat the heroes to a pulp, so just sit back and try have some fun.

Historical Outcome: Thanos got cocky and lost the Infinity Glove to Nebula. Deep down inside, Thanos knows that he is not worthy of godhood, so he unconciously finds a way to lose it every time. With Nebula still confused with all her newfound power, Adam Warlock enters the soul gem and attacks her from within. When all is said and done, Adam Warlock ends up in possession of the glove.

Special thanks to HCRealms members Xforce1982 & Dondoozat for compiling the list of heroes.

Your Comments:
I have ran this event before and will be running it at my venue again later today.
I find it a fantastically INFINITY GAUNTLET accurate battle.
The three times I have ran it, THANOS has won twice and the heroes won once (barely)
Thanks so much, and LE? where are you?

Posted by: Greth on 6/2/2017 10:50:50 PM
Should probably put a 300-point limit on that Thanos. This does not play nice with IG Thanos.

Posted by: GreenGecko81 on 10/4/2016 5:53:33 AM
I meant to say gotg047a Thanos [the one where he seems too small a sculpt] from Guardians of the Galaxy. :)

Posted by: Jumps_Zilla on 4/11/2016 10:56:49 AM
I love this scenario. Am going to try this with a friend on Wednesday. The Thanos we will be using is the newer one from Galactic Guardians though so we will see how it turns out. It would be nice to have more DC related scenarios too. :)

Posted by: Jumps_Zilla on 4/11/2016 10:54:48 AM
Faced my Bro and like a fanboy...played tyhe heroes team...man i never lost to my brother that bad before....(i blaim the dice!)

Posted by: Aqua7729 on 11/22/2012 2:44:56 PM
I just happened to find this scenario while searching the internet and first off I'd like to say it's totally sweet. I haven't tried it yet but look foward too. I did think of something that players could do to add to it. In the actual Infinity Gauntlet series thanos creates Terraxia to help him kill the marvel heroes. It would be cool to add a clix similar to what her stats would be. To counter this the point level could be increased so the hero side could have more clix.

Posted by: Thanos-Fan on 8/26/2010 1:09:06 AM
We just did this scenario this past saturday and it was rediculious. Our judge ran Thanos back to back on two tables and his reality gems were never below 7 on either table. There was 6 of us playing against him and we got altered the heroes list, to restricting and just said Marvel only. We had Power Cosmic, FF & a Mutant team on one table. Asgard, Spiderman, and my Avengers on the other. No matter when we hit he would just pull off a token to ignore the damage. I may complain about the reality gem but the time gem was the worst since he hit for 4 with every incapitate. Maybe 1 on 1 against Galactus would be the only way to beat him.

Posted by: Nightwing-fan on 5/10/2010 5:04:25 PM
Bill,

ANY doubles, including "double ones" is an automatic successful critical hit. Thanos has the power over time and reality itself -- he never makes a critical miss.

Posted by: The Le on 3/8/2010 12:49:38 AM
If thanks rolls a critical miss would he do penetrating damage, because the roll was doubles?

Posted by: Bill on 3/7/2010 9:36:15 PM
Thank You very much!!

Posted by: Varcho on 3/7/2010 9:37:25 AM
Varcho,

You can only give him one Action per turn. This is why it is critical that you use the Space Gem for free movement and the Time Gem for the free Incapacitate attack (with damage); this allows Thanos to have at least one attack each turn.

Posted by: The Le on 3/6/2010 8:44:24 PM
Can thanos make four actions per turn, or just the Heroes?

Posted by: Varcho on 3/6/2010 5:38:07 PM
Thanks The Le, that's what i figured just wanted to make sure.

Posted by: geminimerc on 3/4/2010 10:01:23 PM
geminimerc,

Thanos can use the Reality Gem multiple times per turn -- this is the only way he can survive against 2000 points worth of heroes. He can remove 1 counter per action; so if 3 heroes make successful attacks against Thanos, he would need to remove 1 counter per attack (a total of 3) if he wants to ignore them. Fortunately Thanos has Impervious, so a good roll means you won't need to use a Reality Gem counter...

Posted by: The Le on 3/4/2010 7:13:39 PM
Just to clarify, on the reality gem, can thanos remove a counter everytime he takes damage from a single action or just once per turn. for example if your playing against two other people and one hits u twice and the other hits you once, can u ignore the damage for all three or just one per person?

Posted by: geminimerc on 3/4/2010 6:53:32 PM
This looks very similar to a scenario by the same name that was in Wizard, Scyre or Inquest (dont remember which one for sure) a few years ago. I think it game out arround the same time Supernova was released. I going to pull it out and check it out, comparing it to yours.

Posted by: Nightwing-fan on 3/4/2010 5:23:35 PM
Pretty interesting. It would be much fun with multiple players rather than just 2.
